## Converting Fractions to Decimals

Converting Fractions to Decimals is very straightforward but explaining it to our kids can be tricky so let’s go through it step by step.

Fractions have both a numerator (the number on top) and a denominator (the number on the bottom). To convert a fraction into a decimal you really need to just do the math, in other words, divide the numerator by the denominator.

**Example 1**. Convert to a decimal, Divide 3 (or 3.0) by 5,

3 divided by 5 = 0.6

**Example 2.** Convert to a decimal, Divide 5 (or 5.00) by 80,

5 divided by 80 = 0.0625
